The Sizzle Awards are reliant on votes from the community, meaning our local clients and industry friends are solely responsible for helping us secure such a big achievement.

Voting By The Numbers 

The Sizzle Awards are presented by FranklinIs, a digital media marketplace sharing the latest and greatest Franklin news, events, and area businesses. This year, the organization hosted its 18th annual Best Business awards, a community-run accolade that spotlights the best businesses in Williamson County across industries from healthcare to home design, shopping, and more. 

Voting took place over 30 days, during which 6,000 individual voters cast more than 553,000 ballots for their local favorites. Amazingly, there were more than 25 categories where winners were separated by less than 10 votes. 

Our Impact in Franklin

The Paige Williams Interior Design team has had ties to Franklin since the very beginning, when Paige attended school at O’More College of Interior Design located right in the heart of downtown. The school’s former campus is located a few blocks from Main Street, and has since been purchased and preserved by the Heritage Foundation. Paige is proud to have had a hand in the O’More Show House in Franklin. 

The Paige Williams Interior Design office is also housed in Franklin, a fitting location given the growing list of client projects taking place in town. To date, Paige and her team have embarked on more than 50 design projects in the Franklin area, tackling everything from kitchens to bedrooms, backyards, beauty salons, and so much more. 

It’s safe to say PWID touches can be found city-wide, and we’re extremely grateful to have been recognized as a Best Business by our favorite local community. We promise to keep up the great work!

We’ll Say It: Primary Bedrooms Should Be Romantic

It’s time for some real talk. With the hustle and bustle of everyday life for many families, romance can take a back seat to soccer games and cheer practice, holidays and late nights at work. We’ve been talking lately about creating a functional home, which is one of our biggest passions when it comes to renovations. Sometimes that means reconfiguring a kitchen to flow better, sometimes that means converting a closet to a walk-in pantry. 

And sometimes, that means creating a space that you simply want to be in. Something that sparks joy, or… sparks sparks. 

We loved working with our clients to create a striking primary bedroom that’s a mature oasis for mom and dad, with plenty of functional touches to make life at home a little bit easier. Check out these before and afters!

Before and After: In-Room Laundry

This primary suite included in-room laundry, which can pose a challenge when trying to separate rest and relaxation from everyday chores. The existing space got the job done, but it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing and there were a few functional elements we knew would make life easier for our clients.

We started by adding a few simple touches to immediately spruce up the space: nice shelving, gold hardware, a divider to emulate a built-in look, and an extra shelf at arm level to help with storage and organization. We also incorporated the stunning purple color (more on that later) into the doors and wall to create a cohesive look, and swapped the carpet for a black and white tile.

Before and After: Lighting

Setting any kind of mood is all about the lighting: bright for productivity, subdued for relaxation, and flattering hues when it needs to be. Like in a primary bedroom. In this project, we started with the ceiling fan in the center of the room, swapping it for a gorgeous chandelier with black and gold detailing and exposed bulbs. We added matching bedside sconces, and brought it all together with recessed lighting in the corners. 

We’re always blown away at the difference lighting makes in a room, and this one is no exception.

Before and After: Drab to Fab

These photos speak for themselves, but the transformation from brown and neutral tones to stunning purple, black, and gold, made all the difference in the world. With romance in mind, we knew that pinks and purples are notoriously complementary against skin, so we recommended Sensuous Gray from Sherwin Williams (which was fitting all around).  

We used the color on the walls, trim, and the ceiling, and added a floral accent wall to bring it all together. By bringing the paint onto the ceiling, it creates a finished, cohesive look that gives the room a moody makeover, and is always recommended when using a darker color.

This Kitchen Remodel Has Us Green with Envy

When we first meet with a client to discuss their needs and wants, functionality in a space is always top of mind. If you’ve purchased a home that doesn’t meet your needs, or your growing family has phased you out of an existing space, a renovation focused on functionality can make all the difference in the world. 

That’s just what we did in a recent kitchen renovation. The existing kitchen didn’t work for our client’s lifestyle, but a careful reconfiguration transformed the space into a perfect fit for their family.

Dreaming + Planning

The primary problem we needed to tackle was the layout of the existing kitchen—it had two islands with the stovetop in the middle of the room, which wasn’t ideal for our clients’ family. We opened up the entire layout of the kitchen, changing everything around to create the perfect “triangle working space,” then creatively coming up with ways to tuck in appliances and essentials around the room. 

With the bones of the plan in place, we then turned our attention toward design. If you know anything about our team, it’s that we love working with color, so we were thrilled when our clients were drawn toward this stunning green paint that became the focal point of this mid century modern project. We also added a navy paint and dark wallpaper throughout the breakfast nook area, added a black sink, and finished the look with gold accessories. 

One of our favorite aspects of the project were the custom cabinets we added in partnership with Century Living. The team supported us every step of the way, and was key in helping our vision come to life. 

Process + Building

With all the final plans in place, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get to work. We partnered with general contractors The Dan Company to help bring out vision to life—and they certainly delivered. While this build was a large aesthetic transformation, we were also tasked with relocating and creatively placing things like a double trash pullout, an ice maker, microwave drawer, and freezer drawer, all of which helped maximize the space. The Dan Company helped us execute this flawlessly! 

For added storage, we creatively configured the island so that hidden cabinet storage is tucked behind the seating area. The final touch was a custom hood matching the mid century modern style, made from a fluted walnut wood that would become a focal point in the room.

Your Design Business Questions, Answered

Last month, we shared a snapshot of an upcoming event with O’More College of Design, the alma mater of our fearless leader, Paige. After graduating, Paige is proud to continue supporting the school (which is now part of Belmont University) through continuing education, student events, a designer show house, and more. 

In March, Paige had the opportunity to serve as a panelist for a Kravet Student Design Workshop, which focused on fabrics, finishes, & furnishings, influences, innovation, & inspiration. All things Paige is most proud to discuss!

Are you a student exploring careers in design, or a budding designer ready to take off? We’d love to chat.

Q: How did you get people to understand the value of design? 

A: This has always been a big eye opener for me. When I first started networking, I learned that most people don’t know the role an interior designer plays. Honestly, educating on what we do and how we fall into the building/construction phase is still a struggle, but it’s an incredibly important part of the job. 

Q: What is the first conversation you have with a client? 

A: First and foremost, we talk through the design process and how long clients can expect the project to take. We have a really clear, mapped out design process to help set expectations. 

Q: What is currently inspiring you? 

A: I draw inspiration from industry publications and creators. I especially love Architectural Digest and other design magazines, browsing materials from F. Schumacher & Co., and following fabric accounts on Instagram (I LOVE fabrics). 

Q: What is one piece of advice you would give your younger self? 

A: Stay true to your values and why you wanted to be a designer in the first place. I enjoy helping people live a better life in their spaces, and I also love problem solving. I enjoy residential design and I love using color and patterns to attract and inspire clients. 

Q: What is one thing you know now that you wish you had known when you started your business? 

A: You can’t wear all the hats. Find other professionals you trust to do the part of the business that isn’t your strong suit. Shine where your skills are best served! 

Q: How has Nashville evolved since you’ve been in business? 

A: We’ve watched communities grow all around Nashville. What started with new homes has now turned into Airbnbs and short-term rentals downtown. Renovations are huge in my business, since many people are wanting to stay put in their existing homes but need to make it functional for their families. 

Behind the Scenes: O’More Show House

Our fearless leader, Paige, celebrated her birthday in February, so we’re throwing it back and spotlighting her full circle design journey. Paige graduated from O’More College of Design in 2009, and had the opportunity to work on a show house for the college a few years later. The house featured stunning details centered around subtle pops of pink: this month’s Color of the Month!

Get to Know Paige

Paige Williams is a Nashville native–a unicorn in the area with so many flocking to town daily. After graduating from O’More, she worked in a residential design firm for five years before taking a leap and going out on her own. Paige Williams Interior Design was born in 2014, and since its inception, has grown to include two full-time designers, plus Paige and a design office manager. Through every project since, Paige’s love of fabric and bold color have continued to be a theme for clients. 

Paige lives with her two fun-loving cats, Nessie and Hershey. She loves mountain biking, the color teal, and is a Swiftie at heart. By building and designing her own home in Bellevue she can appreciate the custom building and emotional process that her client's go through with their families through her personal experience.

The O’More Show House

Paige was thrilled to support her alma mater through the 2016 design show house. The historic Franklin home features 22 spaces designed by top local designers, including Paige and her fellow O'More College of Design alumni. Take a look at the Paige Williams Interior Design-branded touches and pops of pink – all inspired by walking down the streets of Franklin on a warm spring day. 

Continuing Education

We’re thrilled to continue supporting O’More, which is now housed under the Belmont University umbrella. This month, Paige will participate in the Kravet Student Design Workshop at Belmont, serving as an expert on residential design. The event will kick off with a pre-reception on February 28, followed by a panel on February 29. Paige will join other designers to discuss the topics of Fabrics (a PWID specialty!), Finishes & Furnishings, Influences, Innovation & Inspiration.
