Creating a Home for Everyone

Sometimes when we take on a design project, we customize each paint swatch and fabric sample to our clients’ personal style, quirky interests, and unique functionality needs. Creating a space perfectly suited to become our clients’ forever homes is a passion project, but sometimes, we need to think bigger.

Real estate has evolved from families simply buying and selling personal homes to now include investment opportunities, secondary homes, and vacation destinations. In a recent project we completed in Franklin, we worked alongside a family who planned to regularly host out-of-town friends and family for long weekends and holidays, so while we kept their personal taste in mind, we also wanted to make the space aesthetically pleasing and comfortable for their guests, too.

Check out how we transformed a new build with vibrant-yet-cozy touches.

Sprucing Up New Construction

We love a project that begins with a blank canvas, and that’s exactly what this one offered as a new build. Builders are notorious for using contractor-grade fixtures and generic everything, so having a designer come on board during the buildout is a surefire way to add customizations and elegant touches into a new home.

Our client loved color (as do we), so we accented the space with eye-catching pops through paint, wallpaper, fabrics, and decor. The white walls received a coat of baby blue, accent areas were covered in textured wallpaper, and light fixtures received an upgrade from standard to oversized and impressive.

Designing for Everyone

With our clients’ love for color, it was important for us to deviate from the all-neutral trend to one that’s more vibrant. But, with the added challenge of designing for every taste, we kept the color pops minimal, elegant, and changeable. The living room received a coat of pretty blue paint, and we added intrigue through colorful throw pillows, curated accent pieces, and multi-colored drapery.

Keeping Comfort and Durability in Mind

When you’re curating pieces to have in your own home, you can likely trust that things will be more protected from hard use, spills, and expedited wear-and-tear. But, when you’re dealing with guests, it’s best to err on the side of caution and assume that items might not be used as gently. With this in mind, durability is of utmost importance.

Working with a designer can help ensure pieces are made with quality, comfortable materials and are built to last–which will, ultimately, help save some money in the long run.

Whether you’re designing for yourself or for a mixed-use space, we’d love to help

Pillow Talk: Meet Paige’s Pillow Party

Since Paige Williams Interior Design launched in 2014, we’ve been proudly filling homes with bold colors and eccentric patterns to match each of our clients’ unique styles. But long before then, Paige has browsed, studied, and collected beautiful fabrics dating back to her childhood.

With repurposed materials from projects past, prints gathered from showrooms and galleries, and a reinvention of some of our favorite looks over the years, our expertly hand-selected collection of fabrics are now available to take home in pillow form. From delicate detailing to unexpected styles, each of our unique prints tells a layered story. We hope these serve as the catalyst for a vibrant home redesign, or add the finishing touch to your perfect space.

Our pillows provide the icing on the cake, the confetti to the party. Get to know all the details behind our exciting new brand.

About the Pillows

All Paige’s Pillow Party pillows are locally designed and produced. A designer-selected print is paired with a velvet backing, then each pillow is filled with a quality down insert. We often tout that bigger is better, so you’ll find our pillows measuring 24 by 24, which is larger than most options in-store.

Our pillows are approachable yet sophisticated, functional yet durable, and elegant yet oh-so fun.

Collection Highlights

Depending on the party you’re going for, there are three Paige’s Pillow Party collections to choose from: Dot, Garden, or Vibes.

Dots will never go out of style, and you may see the delightfully dotted fabrics appear in some of our favorite client projects. Now, anyone can incorporate these colorful prints into their own homes–from the captivating “signature secrets” to the mismatched dot pattern found in “vibe check.”

If florals and landscapes are more your cup of tea, the Garden Party collection boasts a collection of flora-focused prints in vibrant patterns for anyone to welcome the outdoors in. The “magical vibes” option pairs greenery with a striking blue background, while the cheerful “floroyla” features bright blooms.

Last but certainly not least, visit our Pillow Vibe Party collection for prints that are extra unique and utterly striking. The elegant crane pattern “do tell” exudes curious sophistication, while the swirling “twist” option features an abstract design.

How to Add Bold Colors to a Room

If you’ve followed us for any length of time, you’ll know we love to be bold: pops of unique colors on accent walls, ornate wallpaper patterns, and striking accent pieces as decor or furniture can drastically elevate a room and bring out a family’s unique personality. But, while we’re always nudging our clients to take a bold leap, it’s always important to do so with caution.

Bold colors that are perfectly placed make a big impact in all the right spaces. In this light-filled, neutral-based project of ours, we used bold fabrics, wallpaper, paint and accessories to tie together two adjoining rooms. And of course, the beautiful transformation was totally teal (our favorite!).

Complementing Nature

With careful planning, a major improvement can happen without needing to completely gut and rebuild a space. In this project, we accomplished an impressive transformation with a little paint, wallpaper, and elegant fabrics, which combined, bypassed the need for a full renovation.

The focal point for the living room was the floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that overlooked the backyard pool areas, so while we knew we wanted to work with shades of blue, we also made sure the colors and patterns complemented the natural colors and landscapes lying just beyond the windows.

Going Bold in the Family Room

Nature itself is a neutral, and with gray walls, light hardwoods, white trim, and plenty of natural light, we had a clean canvas to work with when adding in our bold colors. The family had a famous piece of art that would hang above the fireplace in their living room, so we created our color palate to elevate that.

In the family room, we added a bright teal paint color to the back wall with a fireplace in the center and an ombre wallpaper to the built-ins on either side.

In the adjacent living room, we kept the fireplace neutral to let the artwork shine, but incorporated our colors through striking fabrics on the pillows and curtains. What’s the key to curtains? Make sure they’re the right height (going all the way to the ceiling) and that there’s a substantial amount of fabric framing each window.

We added custom antique mirrors on each side of the fireplace, plus a large shell sconce in the middle to reflect the light throughout the room. Lastly, we incorporated swivel chairs by the doors so the family could pivot for an outdoor view when doors are open.

The fabric we used for these curtains is among our very favorite. Stay tuned for how you can incorporate this look into your home with ease — we have an exciting announcement on the horizon!

Keeping it Teal: Living Room Renovation

Did you honestly think we’d limit our teal celebrations to only one month?! We have so many teal-focused projects in our portfolio, we knew we needed to keep the party going. Last month, we had a toast to teal through a wet bar makeover and got a little pampered in a tranquil primary bathroom upgrade

Next up: a vibrant living room redo that helped our clients maximize quirky spaces and bring a space that’s so integral to life at home from neutral to anything but.

Check out the transformation through these before-and-afters.

Fireplace

The fireplace is typically a focal point and central gathering space in any home, so we knew our client’s builder-grade materials were in need of an upgrade. Keeping the floors intact, we elevated the fireplace by lowering the mantle, adding herringbone tile, and finishing the look with a striking piece of art that ties in the remainder of the room. We love the way the teal paint and subtle accents generate interest and create a moody area to relax and reconnect.

Entertainment Center

A living room is rarely complete without a TV–we know many family memories are made shouting Jeopardy answers, catching the local news, or snuggling up for a movie night. This home had angled walls creating an asymmetrical challenge. Our clients’ had a dark wood entertainment center that we wanted to reimagine, so we opted to add custom cabinetry for storage along the bottom and floating, exposed shelves at the top to display decor, knickknacks, and family photos.

The Details

With bold paint and textured wallpaper used in this project, we wanted to add neutral accent pieces to round out the look. We opted for gold metal and white accent pieces, and added a stunning subtle curtain to frame the windows on either side of the fireplace.

Whether or not you adore teal as much as we do, we’d love to help transform your home into something beautiful and functional for your family. Let’s get the conversation started

This Primary Suite Has Us In Our *Teals*

All colors have the ability to evoke emotions, and teal is no exception. It’s known to be associated with calmness, serenity, balance, and tranquility, and can symbolize a connection to the natural world. All of these reasons and more combine to make it one of our very favorites, and we absolutely loved incorporating it into a primary bedroom and bathroom renovation in Franklin, Tennessee.

From dreamy tiles to striking accents and fun fabrics, check out all the details of this primary suite renovation.

Dreaming in Teal

Our clients’ main goal in their primary bedroom was to maximize the storage and functionality of each space to create a cohesive feel, but they also wanted to be able to store clothing and get ready for the day in the room as well. We converted the entire left side of their home into a massive primary suite that checked all of their boxes.

This family loved texture and bold colors (same!), which we kept in mind throughout the design process. We created a colorful yet soothing palette to evoke relaxation throughout the space. We used a bold teal color on the walls and ceiling, then added a textured tan wallpaper as an accent wall behind the bed.

We kept our bright color palette going through furnishings and accents, like adding a coral bench to the foot of the bed and cushion to a functional bay window with shoe storage. It all came together with a perfect combination of accent rugs and drapes featuring all colors.

Pampered in Teal

Bringing comparable colorways into adjacent rooms helps create a cohesive feel. With so much vibrant color in the primary bedroom, we complemented the look in the connected primary bathroom as well. The existing bathroom had deep red accented walls, making our transition to a pale teal and white oasis all the more jaw-dropping.

Working within the parameters of the existing bathroom walls, we completely moved everything around and created more open space. We used a beautiful teal paint on the walls, added white marble flooring, and created interesting focal points in both the shower and water closet.

In the shower, we used a scalloped tile on the walls and multi-colored penny tile on the floor that tied in nicely with the neutrality of the space. In the water closet, we brought in a vibrant wallpaper with a shades of blue watercolor effect. The window at the focal point is a custom stained glass to let light in but keep the view private over the round tub.

Finishes and fixtures were all gold, including trim detailing, handles, sconces and plumbing, and we completed the stunning look with a glass chandelier suspended above the freestanding tub.
