Mission: Middle School Locker

paige and emma kate.jpg

Hey everyone!

We have a special blog post this month! Paige’s cousin, Emma Kate is taking over to tell you how they’ve designed her middle school locker. She has a good understanding that the spaces we use everyday matter, and that no where is too small for tassels and a little color. Read on to see what they came up with!

First, Emma Kate and Paige picked the wallpaper, and from there selected the remaining colors. By picking out the largest element first, makes the other selections much easier to decide.

Secondly, designer’s have the ability to feel right at home, and no where is too weird for a small brainstorm session. May it be the floor of the department store, a quick inspiration doodle on a napkin, or in the middle of chaos—we all have to stop, discuss, and complete.

And lastly, all the small accessories. Magnets, boxes for pens and pencils, and of course, our cute new stickers!

Hope you enjoyed this mini design session! Maybe it inspired you to design a small space that you use every day!

August's Color of the Month

We love the beach vibe this loch blue gives us. We are treasuring the final days of summer and what better way than to appreciate the refreshing hues of blue by remembering the blue, blue ocean and the upcoming cool days of fall. Loch Blue is a deep cyan color that compliments most any space. When paired with white, it’s clean and classic. The bright hue is perfect to match with other colors, as it’s bright enough to stand out or fade into the background. But no matter the application, it is indeed popular!

Here’s some of our personal color inspiration!

We would love to see some of your color inspiration! How does the color blue make you feel? Calm, serene, or does it remind you of something special? We always love hearing from you!

July's Color of the Month

The color pink has vastly diverse meanings. In the Western world, pink is primarily a female color. However, in Japan, pink cherry tree blossoms are said to represent the fallen Japanese soldiers, lending a masculine association to the color pink. Stronger shades of pink, like Exuberant Pink, is linked to confidence and energy—it gives off warmth and positivity. These characteristics remind us of looking through rose-colored glasses—sometimes a different perspective is just what we need.

Feel free to check out some of our own color inspiration. Maybe you’ll find something to spark your creativity!

Thanks for checking in with us this month! We hope you learned a little something. See you next month!

June's Color

Sherwin William’s Inkwell is a dramatic and sophisticated color. Often, the color black demands power and authority but inkwell, well, it merely suggests it. Designers repeatedly return to the classic black and white color scheme. When designing with colors, it's important to know complementary but with black and white— they simply contrast one another. Inkwell will give your space depth, a bit of drama and a ton of style. We hope we’ve convinced you to think about using it!

We would love if you checked out some of our personal inspiration!

Sometimes it’s good to invite a little drama in your life. Life’s too short to play it safe! See you next month!
